The Legend of Ross – Union Pole Cassette UP01

The Legend of Ross cassette features many great tracks including New Bad Things, Sone, Bugskull, Jupiteria, The Stowaways (Jeff Fucillo’s Dad’s band from the 60′s). I think this was Union Pole’s first release and was in collaboration with the short-lived Ross Records. The Bugskull track is ‘Goodbye Kitty’ and is on the Second side @ ~7:00

Jarvik VII and Bone Cure Split cassette on Union Pole – UP09

Jarvik VII- Plastic Hearts Can’t Be Broken (they Just Melt)

The Jarvik vii was a free jazz ensemble inspired by the Art Ensemble of Chicago. There was a revolving door of participants, but it was primarily Sean (Bugskull), Sam Coomes (Quasi), Aaron (Sone) and Brendan (bugskull). Guests included Travis Kurtz & Tres Shannon (Kurtz Project) and on one occasion, we were joined by Gino Robair (Splatter Trio) which was an unexpected surprise.

Many joyous sunday afternoons were spent skronking away at the bugskull house, and a good deal of it was captured on tape. Judicious editing provide some decent moments here.

Jupiteria

Jupiteria was a power duo consisting of Brendan from Bugskull and Alyssa Isenstein who was a champion of bugskull from early on and wrote some very nice things in her fanzine, Second Skin. All songs were written by Alyssa – she played guitar and sang too. All recording and arrangements were done by Brendan.

Jupiteria’s output consists of

One 7″ on Dalmation Records (coincidentally also run by Alyssa )
One track on a cassette compilation on RoadCone records’ “Cantakerous Jack Lord Feeder Operation“.
One track on the cassette compilation “Skeeball” on Catsup Plate (thanks Rob).
